Class

Class ranks below phylum and above order. Members of a class share more characteristics than they do with other organisms in the same phylum. Examples of classes in the animal kingdom include Arthropoda, Crustacea, and Mammalia. The class Mammalia includes vertebrae animals with milk-producing mammary glands to feed their young, a neocortex region of the brain, hair or fur, and three middle ear bones. There are over 100 classes of animals in the kingdom Animalia.

Wild cats are members of the class Mammalia.
